Central Coast Justice Support Network

Introduction

This project offers free support for people with any form of disability whilst they are at police stations or courts. It offers support for criminal matters, whether the person is a victim, witness or offender. The support is offered on the Central Coast only, but we are able to link clients with similar support in other areas.

Police Station Support

This support is offered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The support staff will be able to explain the police process to the person with a disability and assist them to make contact with a solicitor over the phone, for initial free legal advice.  The support staff will also accompany the person with a disability during any police interviews, etc.

Court Support

This support is offered to assist people in the court process.  It is aimed at reducing the stress and anxiety of going to court, again whether the person is a victim, witness or offender.  The support is designed to assist in connecting with a solicitor, explaining legal terminology in simple terms, assisting with the completion of any forms and in establishing links with service providers as determinded by the Court.

If you would like to become a volunteer for the Central Coast Justice Support Network, either as a police support or court support, please contact Stephen Buddeke at CCDN.
