Multicultural Access and Equity ProjectAccess for culturally diverse communities
Introduction
The Multicultural Access and Equity (MAE) Project assists people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds living on the Central Coast to access Home and Community Care (HACC) services.
Services Provided
The Multicultural Access and Equity (MAE) Program acts as a resource by assisting services and people from CALD backgrounds by:
- training HACC services to help them provide culturally appropriate services to CALD clients. This includes Cultural Awareness Training Part 1 - Individual Awareness; Cultural Awareness Training, Part 2 - Agency Practice
- helping HACC services develop their policies or practice to increase access to their service by people from CALD backgrounds
- giving resources to HACC services such as Cultural Considerations; What if a CALD client should walk through my door? A Step-by-Step Guide for Home and Community Care Workers; and the Multicultural Access and Equity Project brochure for HACC services
- providing opportunities for learning through acting as a link by making contact and keeping in touch with difference cultural groups on the Central Coast
- networking and supporting services involved in assisting people from CALD backgrounds
- letting people from CALD backgrounds know of the services that HACC provides and contacting HACC services at the request of the person

- Community Nursing

- Community Options

- Home Modifications and Maintenance

- Allied Health

Arranging an Interpreter
Follow the steps below:

2. Tell them the language you require
3. They will contact the Interpreting Service on your behalf
- You will now be able to have a conversation with the worker through an Interpreter, a three way conversation - this is a free service
